Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes is a health and community support agency which provides a range of services designed to promote health for all ages and independence of seniors and special needs clients.
Since its inception in 1985, Community Care has steadily expanded its services and scope. Over the past 25 years the agency’s basket of services has included Meals on Wheels, transportation (both volunteer driver and specialized accessible transportation in agency-owned vehicles), adult day programs, assisted living/supportive housing, caregiver support, reassurance, friendly visiting and more recently, services such as foot care clinics, falls prevention, cardiovascular health promotion and chronic disease self-management education. Services have historically been rooted in the tradition of neighbours helping neighbours, delivered by volunteers and staff from multiple sites throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes, often in partnership with other organizations.
Community Care programs and services support seniors, adults with disabilities and many caregivers living in the City of Kawartha Lakes. Through various outreach efforts, the agency provides information and support to isolated or “hard to reach” seniors who may be unaware of community support services, or may have trouble accessing appropriate services.
For a comprehensive list of available services and their descriptions, please click on "Community Support Services" under the main menu.
The agency also provides health services through the local Community Health Centre (CHC), with the focus on unattached patients. The CHC provides primary health care services through a growing complement of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and other health care professionals. The CHC’s temporary site is currently located at 108 Angeline St. S. in Lindsay and a permanent site will be constructed over the next two-three years. For further CHC information, please click on “Community Health Services” under the Main Menu. .

Application for the affordable units will be managed by the City while the 19 market, two-bedroom units, will be managed by Village Housing.
